Popular House Pet

Ferrets have are now the third most popular pet in the United States, and ferret owners are the most diversified of pet owners across the USA. Most ferret owners are middle to upper class or professional people that work all day. Most often they are women or childless couples 30 years old and up. Ferrets are typically are not a child’s pet, they more of an adult pet.

Why people like ferrets?
Playful by nature Ferrets are animals that are silly and express the love of life in a way that you may find enchanting. They have two speeds fast and stop, straight from the cage it is playtime, jumping, twisting, turning and scampering. Their joy is so contagious to anyone that takes the time to enjoy them. They have there distinctive type of play wear they bounce around that is often called a “weasel war-dance.” Like a good Jackie Chan movie (as if he had a bad movie) they are action packed, do their own stunts and ferrets work for free. They will excite themselves and unintentionally smack right into a wall or the furniture. Apparently they don’t notice the pain a collision may cause. The younger the ferrets the higher the energy level, and they usually are not interested in you holding them for a moment. squirm and struggle to be off playing again as soon as you pick them up. A ferret will charm its self into your heart just by its slinky like movement or like a big furry inchworm.

Ferrets will want to do what ever you are doing just so they will be with you.
Everything is a game and the house is their amusement park. They love hide and seek, they you’re your thing and you have to seek them out. So, put your keys, cell, wallet and anything you don’t want hidden up and out of their reach. They don’t do laundry well because they will never match your socks. They will not pass a trash basket without flipping it over. They climb inside ottomans, chairs, loveseat and or couches just to get at the stuffing, which makes a nice little bed to nap on. They love nibbling on bare toes. They do their joy dance approached by their human.

You will find your ferret napping in some of the oddest places.
The handle on my sock drawer is broke so I leave it open slightly which is just big enough for my youngest to get in. Another favorite spot is the laundry basket they just ball up and go to sleep. But one thing will not change when woken up its playtime immediately. When they get older they will still play but they will also climb into your lap and take time to smell the roses and maybe just maybe fall asleep in your lap. Gotta love that!!
